Turning Point???
Well, I hope last night was the start of when things start to turn around. I went to the casino to see my friend Greg's band play, letting him take the stage with them again after a three year absence due to having a stroke. He can't play yet like he used to but just being up on the stage again singing with his group put the guy on top of the world and I'm glad I was there to see that.
With that said, it was nice to see some old friends again. Catherine, Mike, Antone, Sandi and the other Sandy not to mention my first ex!! It went good seeing her for the first time in 11 years and getting a chance to catch up on how everyone has been doing.
I was only there two hours (big crowd, too much smoke in the air) but it felt good just to get away for the short time I did. To avoid those four walls for even a little bit was a much needed and welcome change. I think the best part of yesterday was the absence of the crying. Sure, there was a time for a couple of minutes in the morning when I wanted to but I was able to set that to subside.
I think I'm finally getting to where I can tell myself "You Got This"... I just have to keep believing that every minute of every day from here on out.

This as been helpful for me knowing that maybe I too can tell myself I got this. I also go maybe a day without crying but then something sets off a trigger and I fall right back to where I was before. How are you dealing with the triggers?
When they start to come, I stop them and try to immediately put another thought into my mind. Sometimes it can be a song on the radio and when that happens, I change the station. If it\'s something else, I\'ll try to turn to anything that may give me another focus point. I\'ll be driving a lot this weekend (both nights I\'ll be working patrol duties) and I\'m sure that it will hit me then and I\'ll have to find something to change my thoughts.
Enough about me.. How are you doing? If you keep telling yourself \"I got this\", you\'ll be ok too. Promise me you\'ll give that a try when you feel the triggers start to arise. If you need me, I\'m here...
I think getting out of our own weeds and cutting ourselves a little break is sometimes the best thing we can do. Just to not think about it all for a bit and take a breather. If anything, I think it can refresh us kind of. Slow down the shit show in a way, before we dive back into it again. It will keep getting better...time has a way of improving many situations and our mindset as well. Good for you for doing that and getting out of the house, John.
Thanks, Aurora. The people here along with my friends in life and FB are really helping me with the rough patches I\'ve been having. She\'s having a tough time of it too and I hope she can start to stand stronger as I\'m finding it a little easier to do now.
I hope she can too, John, and I\'m really glad you have such a great support system. That really helps wonders, no doubt. And fyi...my name is Jennifer...Aurora refers to something else. ( :
TY Jennifer.. its been nice to meet you
You as well, John!
