trying to sleep, mind is attacking me

this is a two part entry.

earlier today i was wrestling with feeling confident and ok with my eccentricities and just personal

ok-ness...and then spent time with family - and got into helping them with chores and stuff

- and yet as we talked some of the words in conversation seemed so pointed

and so fraught, that they cut like a knife and hurt...I know I am not alone in this experience - it may feel like I am alone but I thought about my own mother who talked about how her mother would say things.

So, by accepting 'it' as probably not that unusual, I just got on with the day - and redoubled my focus

of helping my parents....and started to think about how we each have our ailments and we're here to

work to survive and also take care of each other... and that was happy-making.

second part of the entry is

that I am trying to sleep now - the market needs me to work on Monday which is not the usual schedule for

me (no biggie) but I am trying to sleep and my mind is attacking me at every which way.

It's like I have to do something that recalibrates my mind and body.

Does this happen to any of you guys? Where you've spent so much of the day working at life

and understanding and chores that to 'turn your mental light out' at the end of the day (although you are quite tired) seems impossible because you're just not able to 'go there'?

Hola Mark,
Oh yes, I can be exhausted & sleep deprived but still have trouble turning my mind off at night

I hope you can drift off to sleep eventually

It's hard to remember to use distraction to reset the switch, and hopefully, you get some rest!

it's normal for me. the symptom is much easier to manage since i accepted it **as** normal for me. it still isn't any funner than my daily bowel movement, but the acceptance allows me to treat it like a psych symptom rather than a character trait. it be a thing i live with more than who and what i am.

distraction remains my most effective therapy tool for the symptom. there is still no cure for the common me.
