Traumatized by Coworkers' Insensitivity

I need everyone's feedback. I experienced a traumatic experience at work last week due to very insensitive coworkers.
A couple of coworkers decided to "prank" another coworker who was afraid of blood so they purchased fake blood and staged a suicide (cutting of the wrists) to "scare" him. Everyone laughed and thought it was so funny. I was not present for the prank but was told in detail what they had done. I went into shock and had to leave work for the day. I'm back today and every apprehensive!!!
Does anyone have good advice and feelings about this experience?

Appreciate any help you can give!

Thanks! Dee

Thank you so much. That\'s the hardest part for me that I work with people who can laugh about an event that has caused me and my family so much pain and anguish for 5 years! I appreciate your support. Love, Dee

Hi Dee, I would send a email to all involved explaining that this topic is a painful one for you and that a prank such as that is inappropriate & the workplace is no place for this kind of behavior.
Tight hugs and I am sorry your coworkers put you through this!

Ditto Linda - not appropriate at all, anywhere . But I have to say, I don\'t think most people knowingly mean to hurt us - they are just totally clueless. In this case, some are a lot more clueless than others! I\'m so sorry you had to go through such a painful and insensitive thing. Joanna x
