Transitioning systems

I had a family zoom call this morning, like we do every Sunday. It went really well. It was very nice and i'm feeling comfortable and positive with where I live in life right now . After the call I thought of going out so I did. I went and got a coffee. Then on the way back I thought about how I'm kind of anxious about going out there in the world to do different things than just living at the monastery . I think because my family life has been so complicated at times probably because of my illness alone.I felt that maybe transitioning to the world out there, the different system, would equally be as complicated and as daunting. Because of my illness, too, maybe I should remind myself. I also know that no place is perfect and no person is perfect. So I know on the average I try my best and on the average I am a good person. But people will have to accept my flaws and deal with my inevitable crud as I will have to accept theirs and hopefully on the average, we're all good with each other. I saw this quote on my teabag this morning and thought it applies. It applies to so much in life. I hope you guys are having a good day sending lots of love.a2a7d0c44a46ec768a899bb283696963f31ce760.png

I'm also considering how things are here at the monastery - transitioning in and out of this place is a real heavy shocker too.
So maybe it's just good for me to think about the processes I am experiencing to make it more conscious for me rather than gut reaction.

Reminds me of the song, "Ebony and Ivory" ......."There is good and bad, in everyone. Learn to live as we learn to give each other what we need to survive, together alive" Hugs

I think I get so nerve wrecked and on edge about going out into DC to see art because I don't bring an identity
with me. Things are very controlled here at the monastery and it takes up most of my energy and focus.
When going into DC I think I feel like I bring nothing to the city. I have no career outside of being a monastic.
I don't have money or a habituated purchasing history anymore. I no longer am the collector of cultural
information that fueled my art as a young man. I have Blue -
I am definitely going to see if I can go to the National Cathedral for a service.
That's something I feel I can get excited about and there is a continuity to it for me.

I always replace illness with condition = for my own well-being. You're a valuable person, shaped by your experiences and acknowledging the significant impact your condition has provided you. Being able to thrive in a compact society living and working environment takes courage, bravery, and determination.

Here's to you! Be you and keep on "keeping on". Your journey is special in so many directions. I bet you touch far more people than you realize!
