Transition
Hello Everyone...Endings are happening in me and around me and although I affirm "I embrace uncertainty" I need to re-read this today as I am feeling a little Disoriented! Hugszzzz, Vicki
Transition consists of three rather distinct stages. Each stage has its distinctive characteristics as well as its particular challenges.
ENDING…VOID…NEW BEGINNINGSFirst, each transition begins with an ENDING. Change means letting go of the old (old behavior, old patterns, etc.) before we are able to embrace the new. Sooooooo, the first stage of the transition process is "Endings." Many of us would like to believe that the stage of "Endings" is followed by a “New Beginning” it is NOT! The next stage is called "The Void." This stage is characterized by a feeling of emptiness and a sense of "wandering in the wilderness." (Maybe where you are now and I have found myself every time change/transition comes my way; it's never-ending) Finally we come to the last stage which is that of "New Beginnings." He also says, "Endings should be honored but not to worship them!" Here's the four phases we go through when we have an ending experience: Disengagement.........no longer engaged in what was once a familiar part of our life.” What is my life about?" "What is my place in the world?" An ending impacts our answers to all of these. There is no single "right way to experience an ending. It is important to allow ourselves to have our feelings and to be cautious in making major decisions. Disidentification........Our outer world mirrors parts of our identity; when we lose the outer "mirror" it may feel as if we have lost part of ourselves. Disenchantment.......Every culture "enchants" its members through its system of collective beliefs and values. We usually believe these beliefs are true, without question. To be disenchanted is to have one of these basic assumptions shattered. We may need these beliefs (i.e. enchantments) at certain stages of our growth, but at some stage, we need to release them. Much of our growth consists of letting go of "outgrown" enchantments. This is a very positive thing, but it rarely seems so at the time; it usually feels AWFUL!
Disappointment occurs when a certain circumstance fails to meet our desires……yet we continue with the same basic set of assumptions; disenchantment occurs when we drop the basic assumption. Disorientation......... An ending may trigger disorientation: a sense of confusion, a LOSS of a sense of direction. The "maps" that we used to guide our life may suddenly become useless.
There is no single “right way” to experience an ending. It is important to allow ourselves to have our feelings and be cautious in making major decisions.
At this time, I feel it is especially important to turn to the God of our understanding and to trust that we are being guided..........Each transition allows us the opportunity of a "bigger God!"

Thank you for sharing, Victorious Vicky!! I hope your body is healing and especially your shoulder. I appreciate the flowers you sent me! Hugs and thanks, Rosie
Hi, I hope the endings that are happening to you, bring about a wonderful climate of fresh loving new beginnings!
Thank you for sharing such helpful and wise thoughts. I\'m in that \'void\' right now and trying to muddle through it. It\'s a tricky time.
Love and hugs to you xxxxx
Hi Vicki,
I say \"Thank you\" as well. There is no question I am in and have been in transition for awhile. And sometimes I do still feel somewhat lost in transition. This is really helpful for me.
As you are recognizing some of your endings as well, we are kindred spirits on our journeys. :-)
Hugs,
Shar
You just described what 2012 was all about for me. Having to let go of Mom as I knew Mom. My sisters as I related to them all along. And then going into this Void -- this sense of numbness. Not knowing what to do. Experiencing a Disconnect, not knowing my place in the scheme of things -- as the scheme no longer made sense. It\'s like the puzzle shifted, dramatically, creating a new picture. And I didn\'t know how I fit in -- or if I even wanted to -- and yet I couldn\'t make it what it was -- even if I wanted it go back to that old familiar status quo.
Yeah, Disengagement, Disidentification, Disenchantment, Disorientation for sure. And Disconnected. Like that Void.
All that searching: \"What is my life about? What is my place in the world?\" Hard to know without a map. On 1 hand, that\'s a life-long quest. On the other, it\'s the paradigm (pronounced: Para-DEE-am!) shift that I am surfacing from after being fired in 2010, finding my incoherent, incontinent mother in 2011, and forging my way with my armor and shield through 2012. All those endings .... leading to this....
a new beginning.
Here\'s to 2013.
Hoping it will open new doors of possibilities, new adventures, new discoveries.
((Hugs)) and Thanks!
I like this line a lot: Much of our growth consists of letting go of \"outgrown\" enchantments. This is a very positive thing, but it rarely seems so at the time; it usually feels AWFUL!
I\'ve been reflecting a lot on self-compassion and the balance between what is negative and positive. This really says it in a nutshell... the experience can feel negative but it can be a very positive one.
I can tell you\'re experiencing a lot of change and growth. (((HUG)))
Very appropriate words for me today, thanks; I\'m in the void as of today the 4th, I finally got let go from the work I was doing. Your post is very positive and right on time...thanks. It\'s evidently time for me to move on to do something else.
Hugszzz
