Too OCD
Have a new manager. I like her. I want her to stay. I want people to follow the rules. I work with a bunch of people who don't do what they are told and don't care. They drive me crazy. Some of it is so simple. We have balloons we put out every morning. The night crew will not bring them in at night. Manager said they will or they won't work. I tell the night crew their first night working they have to bring them in. They didn't. The next morning I mention it and get told they aren't going to do it. They will just say they forgot if asked and they say she won't know. Grr. Why. It takes 30 seconds to go out the door and grab them and bring them inside.
We also have a log book that anyone that is not an employee or a client has to sign in and out. New this year. A former employee came in with her daughter to visit. The manager was in the office. I went up front and whispered for someone to sign her in. Got told they were not going to sign in the visitor. She is a former employee and does not have to sign in and they are not going to do it. I point out the manager was in the building and they laughed at me.
I went back to my desk feeling like everyone hates me for trying to follow the rules. Yes I do. I try so hard to be a good employee and no one likes me because of it. Just so tired of it. Some days I wish they would all get fired, but they have been doing their own thing for 15-20 years and they see managers come and go and they are still here so they don't care.
Maybe it is because I was a manager and got in trouble for what my employees did and did not do. I would like to keep this manager, but if I keep trying to help her I will alienate everyone in the office. No way to win.

The root issue of OCD is the need for control. I hope these comments come across as they are intended. that is, with the utmost respect for you, and what it is that are going thru that compels you to feel the need to control.
Your desire to follow rules doesn't make you superior to anyone. It's just a choice you've made. It may be a good thing. But it doesn't make you better than anyone else. It's just who you are.
You can't change who your employees are, what they think, and how to be. You can't insert your worldview into their cranium. Rummage through your mind for all the reasons you want your fellow employees to follow the rules -- your desire to fix things, to rescue, to erase, to change, to control, to avert, to smooth over, to understand, to make whole again. Face it that none of these things can be done, The issue is not with your fellow employees.
Remember that People at work will pass you and give you dirty looks. They are limited in goodness. They are limited in forgiveness. They are not holy. They are just people.
Many positive thoughts your way Paullinaakii :)
with respect ....I belive you have to let it go ....you are not helping any one ....and if you keep it up the other employes ..will ...just get worse with you ....if you want to follow the rouls ...than you do that ...you are a good caring person ....but you can't Chang or save others when they don't want to Chang ..or be saved .......in fact they will often do the opisit ....get worst ..to spite you ....look after your self ...your world while you are at work ....axcept ....the other employes. for how they are ...just people ...with diferant ideas .....we can't always understand this world so we need to go insid our selves ....and love our selves so we can love others ......take very good care of your self ...God bless ...my friend ...
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and respond. I wish their was a way to change your personality, but unfortunately we are who we are and my desire to do a good job and want others to do a good job too has been a turn off for people since I was in high school.
