Today's Project...
Today I painted our red brick fireplace. It was built in the 1950s and I wanted to German Schmear it but it's too lengthy and difficult a process... and VERY mess. So I white washed it. It is beautiful. I ran out of paint though and the sides are not complete.
I will have to get some more paint on monday or tuesday bc they are coming tomorrow to set out furniture and we still have to get felt put on the bottom of our furniture and the blinds up.
So it will be a day or two before I get that process completed. I am very very pleased. The mantle still needs to be painted and finished. It is just primed and then I need to decide what to do with the top of the fireplace. And the inside. It might need to be painted black. I vacuumed it out the other day but it is very smutty and dirty. We do not ever use it.
So... we will see. I'm very pleased.

You're having fun I see, with all these projects. Shifting the energy is good. I'm in the same frame of mind..only not with my house but moving around for short trips..catching up with long lost friends and going for holidays to Asian destinations. I'm so stuck in my tropical bubble and in my sick body..I'm over it

hi, i did quite a bit of reno work on my home in 2011.......i painted the old red brick fireplace a bright clean white and love it! i also love the look of whitewashing and or the german schmear technique..........painting the brick made my home feel so much younger and lighter! a real focal point......you probably already know this, but you need the black paint used just for fireplaces. should you or anyone ever use the fireplace the heat resistant paint will keep y'all safe..... your new floors sound just beautiful.......it's all a work in progress.......be sure to have as much fun as you can while you're revealing the best side of of your home!
i had a long day so i'm gonna sign off for now.........and give you a big brand new pal hug! oh hey today on a diy show i saw an ethanol fireplace insert. i had never heard of or seen one before......it's was a nicely decorated box that you fill with liquid ethanol and light. it's safe, creates heat and light for your home.........no wood needed! the unit they put in the home's existing fireplace (a bungalow in historic New Orleans) cost $229........I thought that was pretty cool. Easy to move, easy to put out........I don't like cleaning up ashes anymore and may invest in one of these ethanol fireplaces inserts for my own home.............gotta do more research first though, night again!
