time to take care of myself

I woke up this morning to the comfort of 'waking when I felt like it.'

Really nice. Then the looming chore of cleaning up after Blue and cleaning

the room was in front of me. No big deal, but I saw that I had to make

the leap and I did. Seems like a crazy start to the journal.

But then I got undressed and when to shower and my body has become

so old and stiff while here at the monastery. Secretly I wish for some help

to get into an exercise program with a trainer...someone to help me...not good.

I know we all have to deal with ourselves and our health and fitness and that

truly it's time to start taking care of myself and stop wishing for some future happening

or intervention. (becky I'll get on with the silver sneakers routine!)

As I started get used to that thought I recognized my mother in me.

I recognized that she too was making her way in the world, however that may have looked

she was trying her damndest. I feel the same. Society may tell you that your efforts have to

look strong like broad strikes of a sword. But truly if you're just a peaceful person

and you're making small steps - if not iconic or magazine worthy - YOU ARE taking care of yourself.

You may not win the prize but have the prize already of taking good care the best you can.

So I'll keep on encouraging myself and encourage my friends here.

Find something you enjoy doing as far as fitness goes. A daily walk is my cup of tea. It used to be bicycling. I keep toying with the idea of going for a bike ride even though it has been years. I’ve forgotten how to change a flat!

I’ve had friends act as "accountability buddies" for exercise, and it really helped me stay motivated. When you need a boost, it’s absolutely OK to reach out. Susan had a great idea about choosing something you enjoy. It can make it easier to stick with. Hugs.
