Bit of a mess today. I asked for 11 days off for my daughter's wedding and was refused. I was told I cannot take more than a week, and what gives me the right to think I can take 2 consecutive weeks every year! I have taken 2 weeks ONE time in EIGHT years. In fact other than the tragedies I have gone thru, that is the ONLY time I have asked for time off. This is not a normal type job, and I was reminded I am a sub-contractor, not an employee. I emailed back sure, I will take 7 days and have not heard anything. I am a wreck, I need this money, do I sell my home and rent an apartment? Complicated job so I will not go into detail, but some days I only work 2 hours. There are 5 of us, why can't someone else cover my shifts????? I deserve the respect of a reply!!!!!!! Needed to vent, thanks for listening

Hi Wendy, I\'m so sorry they aren\'t giving you the time off. People just don\'t understand how important these things are. I think after a loss like ours, we more than ever need and appreciate the special moments we are given. I will pray they change their minds. (I have decided that I need to pray even about all of the seemingly \"little\" things and trust them into His care. Good luck! Hugs to you!

Thank you Sue. Higs, Wendy
Hi Wendy,
What a shame that your employer is so inflexible. I hope that you are able to sort it out. I know how crazy it is the last couple of weeks before a wedding. Although I am not on this site much anymore, I do enjoy receiving updates from time to time. How are you doing generally? It has been almost a year for me now and I am in the process of sorting out my husband\'s clothes for donation. I know you have already done that just recently. I feel like I have to do it in order to move forward. I have been getting out a bit and have actually gone out to dinner with a retired teacher that I met a few weeks ago. I haven\'t told my family, don\'t know if they would understand.
Hugs, Donna
Wow Donna, Good for you. I am still day by day sometimes. I love this job tho but I also have to realize I do not need a 4 bedroom house and all the upkeep that goes with it. Hugs, Wendy PS I hope you have many more dinners!
It\'s good to vent things out. If you haven\'t taken 2 weeks in a row after eight years, it does not seem fair to me. I hope you get the one week off for your daughter\'s wedding. You deserve it. Sometimes we have to fight for what we want or have the right to indeed. All the best and good luck from Diane B.
I have not taken any time of i 8 years other than those two weeks, odd eh? Hugs, Wendy
Wendy,
Seems unfair and bit ridiculous. Have you called HR and asked what the policy is? I would. Stick up for yourself and your daughter.
