thoughts about couplehood
it's the end of the day. I'm lying in bed and watching Masterpiece Theater.
I am starting to relax and get a little bit lonely and my mind is going towards the idea of
couplehood.
It's maybe much easier to think about life as a 'we' rather than the vacuum of 'just me.'
Too make plans for a happy future of pragmatics and plans.
I've experienced a lot in my life and have become full of opinion..
I am thinking that it might be nicer right now to start venturing out
to find a partner. In our struggles with mental health challenges, I've noticed
that a lot of us are single - I bet the right medicine in some cases, like mine,
is to find a partner.

I doesn't know, but I solidly believe that the theory that coupling can solve personal problems has lead to some of the meanest breakups in our divorce culture. Time invested in the hunt for the next Ex stunts personal growth more than any contemporary pass time I've witnessed.
I opine that the time is better invested in putting together a life you can be proud to call your own. The most effective couples I know met on the independent but shared paths to being the best individuals they can be. Love is not looking deeply into each other's eyes. It is looking deeply in the same direction.
Just opining. . . It remains yours to sort.
A big topic, for sure. One I’ve been sorting out in therapy recently.
While I’m no expert, it suffices to say that all the best intentions in the world in the beginning of couplehood seem like a potentially healthy “cure” for ailments. But there is a lot of complex navigation in the dating process to ensure it’s the best long-term force to join. That’s the part I stumble on, historically thinking I can make anything work with great communication…. and that’s just not always true. Compatibility is something requiring knowledge of oneself to determine what can work and what can’t.
Wherever you are at with the journey, go for it! Having a partner is a totally different way of life. Using good judgement, it could be a strengthening force. Going in blindly though expecting immediate positive change can be rough waters though….. again, only in my own meanderings in the realm of couplehood.
Happy Monday!
