those moments
I went to the treepeople.org event today
and though at the outset I was kind of hoping it would
be cancelled due to the imminent rainstorm I determined to
stick it out, to stick to it as I said I would be there and so
I did.
I was working along with the folks who work there
and yet was then mostly working independently/on my own as well - kind of in a zone
of singularity...
but I wondered why I struggle so much internally - 'on my own' at times - it seemed a big gaping
question - what am I doing?
and then I thought "a lot of folks probably question what they're doing
while they're doing it - and don't always have the answers and it's ok to do so"
I kept going and kind of warmed to the experience
and felt like writing poetry - as a result - of this beautiful bucolic time on the mountain side.
I thought about what I thought about yesterday in terms of the
artist's expression - how it's expression of their emotional, intellectual or spiritual experience through any medium inspires in us the fascination or questioning we might have in our own lives but rarely commit
to for whatever reason the effort, time and energy in order to express something ourselves....
and we live vicariously through the art and sometimes literally are inspired to question
our own experiences. The examination of the experience
of our own lives from relating to the artist's work seems to be the gift of those captured 'moments'.
So it's ok to question your life and to feel detached at some points....it seems pretty natural.
Questioning what we are doing and then what 'we do' with our time seems to tell us 'who we are' -
engaged in the moment and being at peace with questioning that is quite good
and for me today it's really serving so much inspiration.
