This was the day......
I started my work early this morning because I had alot of orders over the weekend. I was hoping to see the little fellas' gone so I wouldn't have to upset them with all the noise....As I walked into my shed I noticed one of the babies was standing on the edge of the top of the nest and I knew he was ready to leave because that is exactly what the ones did from the last litter.
I spent a longer time in there then I wanted to but I don't like getting too far behind when orders are coming in steady like they did yesterday and today so I worked as fast as I could. In the early afternoon, I took the completed ones and delivered them to the post office in town. Then I went home and went to work on the others after taking a short lunch break.
There is a big lilac bush/tree in front of my shed. Mom and the kid's were in that tree but I didn't see them, however they spotted me and one of the babies tried to fly out of the bush but ended up on the ground. Mom was mad and she flew a few circles around me while squawking in my ear so I kept walking until I got through the door. Mom perched in a nearby tree and was still yelling at me! That's the thanks I get for giving her free rent for the past month!
So I did what I had to get done and then went back into the house. I didn't see any birds in the lilac bush so I figured they made it out of there, ok and I felt relieved to see them gone but missing them at the same time. It was fun watching them grow up and I hope they all survive.......
And so it is......

@annieheart Actually Robins are very clean birds. I checked the nest and it looked very clean. I was surprised because I read somewhere that robins don't use the same next twice. They were wrong. Hugs

kidding I know but did not know how much work you do with planer and joiner....I am not a wood butcher like you my friend....I like wood a lot but I am not the master of building things with wood....my biggest accomplished wood project was a captians ladder book shelf that hung about five feet from top to bottom and was about three feet long with three shelves made of walnut that a guy who did what you do for himself got for me.....I still have some of the wood because the book shelf got taken apart.....it had ovals on the ends and planks between ovals hole at top and bottom of the two upper levels of the hanging shelf and the bottom shelf just had a hole at the top....the holes were for ropes that I whipped together with copper wire to make the ladder a captain on a ship would climb to the seat on his ship to steer from.....it was a design I saw in Junior high....and remembered I liked it all my years into my 20s when in the mental hospital I found that the OT Room had the wood working tools I needed to design and make the project....people in the hospital stared at me as I walked out of there carrying this thing over my shoulder out to take it home when finished....I did not do too good I tried to use a dowel and pin the planks to the oval ends....but that did not work well...kept breaking apart until I used metal angle irons to hold the planks in place.....
I might be repeating myself but that accomplishment inside the world of a schizophrenic who knew he would be going back to the mental ward again soon took preparation to gather the walnut and then was accomplished when I ended up in hospital another few months with my pot smoking sending me psychotic again....

later they sent me to long term mental hospital in CT where I made sterling silver ring for myself only to find that my skin tarnishes sterling....and I made a bangle sterling bracelet for my neice.....the ring was better of the two and I ended up giving it to my nephew who does not know what happened to it....
that mental hospital had a metal working shop....If I had money I could have made gold items there too....but silver was much cheaper....my ring was a round stone that was green jade and had a twisted flattened bezel wire around the stone....then a three connected bands of the portion around the finger was two narrow on outside one wider in middle...silver soldiered together....I wish I had that ring still.....but nephew does not know what happened to it....
when I make stuff I give it away most of the time....I never really got too crafty but some of the crafts have blown thru my life.....
glad you found your wood crafting to be fun and profitable....
@ billwfriend......Following your passion, may have kept you out of the mental hospital a number of times. You never know. If it makes you feel good to make things, why not buy a few tools and do more of it. If you like to whittle or carve, I sell the wood for that also. It's call basswood and I sell alot of it in the Christmas season. Buyers carve nice things out of it to give away as gifts. There's lots of things you can do with wood and most craft fairs offer a place for people to make money off their hobbies. It amazes me how clever and imaginative some people are with the wood projects they dream up Try it Bill or do some metal work like you did before. You might enjoy it.
