This is what's going on in restaurants...
Hi all,
Want to alert you to be careful and check everything in restaurants. Below someone posted this on my neighborhood website:
Last night we decided to support the local restaurants. Driving around we stop in a Diner on Northern Blvd. Placed the order and the waiter told me very clear if I order a serving of french fries for my hamburger, it would be additional $3.50, which I agreed (usually they come included, but I understood). As they don't offer any wine, my husband ordered a Cappuchino, $3.25 in the menu
At the end, my husband went to pay inside. Going to the car I asked him for the receipt. They charged $5.25 for the french fries and $4.25 for the coffee! As every penny counts, I went back inside and showed the guy. The only he said was "you should told me before". I asked before what??? He said (lol): before you get the bill. I asked him again and showed him the prices in the menu. But he didn't offer to give me the money back. Another guy was there (I would say is the owner), he was just looking at us interacting. No money back, nothing. I left as I told them: is ok, I am not coming back. For the business owners out there: you want repeat businesses? You want customers coming back? You want recommendations? Have integrity to your customer. Think of the "word of mouth": how many customers could I bring to them? First and last!!
Folk, I also had an incident this past weekend---I was out eating in an area where you're allowed indoor and outdoor seating. So we sat inside. My friend asked for the dinner platter. It said on menu that vegtables are included. Her food comes, and there's beans and no vegtables. She asked where are the veggies? The server said the beans are the veggies (huh???). She really wanted veggies, she doesn't eat much meat, so she didn't say anything. Then I asked the server for 2 separate checks. She comes by with one check with two meals on it, and w/higher prices on each one. I ask what's this all about? She said she included the taxes on the meals (this place never did that before). So we paid and left our tips, but next time we go there, we're going to check the prices from the menu, and what we were actually charged, and also, unfortunately, we're going to have to calculate the taxes b/c now I don't trust them.
Bear in mind that they're now allowed to charge 10% more b/c of the pandemic closures and the cleaning that they have to do.
What a shame all the problems the pandemic has caused. I feel so sad about the restaurant business. I loved eating out, but now they're coming across as desperate. I don't think they'll survive. So sad....

I will not dine in until there is a Vaccine. I feel bad for them. But you do have a choice. Thanks for sharing! Hugs!
I feel so bad for them too. I guess they are desperate. And here in NYC, we're still not even doing any kind of indoor dining, only some indoor dining (using every other table) in the other counties. They won't make it unfortunately. Soon we'll all be cooking.
Our prices have gone up also since the pandemic but the prices are on the new menus she had printed up, I couldn't believe some of the prices but they are paying more for the food now too, everyone's prices have gone up. I do believe that the right prices should be on the menu for the customers to see. My boss said that some prices on food have alomost doubled, it's a shame. The prices on the check should never be a surprise!!!
