Immanuel Kant was famously so punctual and consistent in his daily routine that people in Königsberg reportedly used his afternoon walk as a kind of unofficial clock.

Every day, at nearly the exact same time, he would go out for his walk—so reliably that neighbors could set their watches by it. The only commonly told exception was when he became so absorbed in reading Émile, or On Education by Jean-Jacques Rousseau that he missed his usual schedule.

It’s one of those small biographical details that actually fits his philosophy—his life reflected the same order, discipline, and structure that he believed reason should bring to human thinking.

My therapist gave me a conceptual tool to use for when confronting a feeling.

I used ACE right now. I have a tendency to, when I get back to my room, get very in unison
with my comfort and then become stuck in doing nothing. I fall asleep or just become
feeling all powerless. I used ACE just now. A-cknowledged my feelings, C-onnected with some grounding
and E-ngaged in turning off my radio and coming to write here. There will be a time and place for me to
'zen out' in my room. Right now, though tired, I need to get going and take advantage of the free time I have.
