thinking in terms of ideals of things and then having to...

I realized I tend to think in terms of ideals in terms of behavior and outcomes,

in myself, in others and in situations that I am involved with.

Real life has taught me I need to adjust my sights when it comes to that.

I can't expect myself to be an ideal - and I can't expect others to be that

in life. We're all just human and I think to keep an ideal in mind is important

for inspiration - but then it's humanism that gathers us to a workable and happy

conclusion.

So very true Mark
'To err is human to forgive divine'

Maybe the ideal can be in our ability to forgive

i still can't read my journals, etc., without falling into flashback hell. one of the gnarlier triggers of those flashbacks is reading my ideals from decades gone by. i thought WHAT! ! ! can i please have my amnesia back? turns out my highfalutin ideals ain't as fixed as my ideals might wish for.

damned humans. . . we're all walking contradictions, partly truth and partly fiction.

these days i think of ideals as hemlines. they go up and down with the season. i keep my ideals in the closet with my other hemlines.
