thinking about things

Work went well today... then came home, and tried to give Blue some extra

attention when I first came home. When I first got him, when I would return from being

out of the house, I would stop (wash my hands) and then dote on him when I first

got home. That would last for about 10 minutes and then I would make lunch.

Lately I have been making my lunch much sooner, when I get home, and I think

he senses it... He cried today when I went into the kitchen today as I only stopped to cuddle

him a little at first. But then I remembered what I needed to do.

He's my baby for sure and I shouldn't adjust the attention I give to him, I've learned

that much about caring for and being responsible for another creature.

He may not be able to say he wants it - but routine is important for my child (and me too!)

So I stopped and played with him for a good while, and so indeed it was time to do the regular thing

with him again going forward.

Again, work went well and after Blue, lunch and a shower and dressing..I watched some PBS

and I checked the mail. Then I talked to my Pop and then went get a Starbucks. The shop is

back open! (it had been closed for renovations.)

Things are good. I'm home now, watching the "Roosevelts" on PBS.

Setting about to find a project around here, my mind and 'being' want it -

like watching this poignant show or even writing an entry here online. :)

I am realizing why I get so 'the way I do' on the weekends - but I know now

I've got to supply myself with that poignancy or project on those days off.

I'll go back to St. Jude's Church on Sunday. And then in a week and a half

I'm set to volunteered with the Treepeople again.

Sending good vibes and kharma.

As a recovering chaos junkie who had to learn the hard way about the importance of structure and stability, I can hardily embrace your adherence to strict routines. As a parent and animal lover I can testify that too much structure and stability makes for under-confidence and boredom. Limits must be established and tested on a regular basis, wherever they lie. Fear of testing limits turns those healthy boundaries from a source of comfort to terrifying prison walls.

Balance in all things, Papa. Love your baby but keep the pot gently stirred.
