Things can get better
Things can get better with honesty, open-minded and willingness.
I never really surrendered, and 8 years after my first AA meeting, I think Ive finally understood what accepting my alcoholism means. Knowing powerlessness and knowing unmanageability mean nothing insofar as step one is concerned. When youre prepared to give up anything you think youve got left to put recovery first (jobs, relationships, family...) THATS when you know youve accepted youre powerless. You give it up in the short term to get it back in the long term.
