These thoughts sustained me
the thought that we’re all uncomfortable at times during conversations so sustained me today.
Today my Aunt threw a party for all of the nearby cousins to congregate at her house. I haven’t seen most of them for decades.
I was nervous at first, as I had talked about last week with my therapist, but I kept in mind as I talked to each of them that we each are feeling uncomfortable or are unknowing what to talk about. The thought kept me buoyant acknowledging of the mutuality.
I had great conversations and then I started to fatigue. I kept more and more quiet but tried not to listen to that inwardly twisting energy. I kept perspective of that we were all connecting and experiencing things, I just was too tired to continue talking so much.
That energy really could have turned me into kind of a beast of negativity but i didn’t listen to the destructive stuff.
Everyone left now and I’m on the couch and relaxing. It was a grand time. I like the connections we had and I like how I handled things.

yeah, conversation fatigue is my most frequent cause of discomfort with conversation. after i learned how to let that be okay, i discovered that the appearance of listening is a more valuable conversation tool than my nerdatious multi-lingual vocabulary. i pick up allot more great stories that way, too. i've already heard all my own stories. sorta.
Thanks Arfie!
