These nightmares...yes, again

Dear DS diary,
Today was a very difficult day.  I was basically running on fumes all day long.  This time a screwed-up nightmare is to blame.
St. Patrick's Day -- aka Evacuation Day in Boston -- and me don't get along well, and haven't for years.  I have multiple horror stories about it.  One year a colleague at my first career (accountant) claimed sickness early on St. Patrick's Day and went home early.  Except he wasn't sick, and he happened to be unequivocally Irish.  He proceeded to get drunk as a skunk, and admitted as much the next day to other senior staff.  Needless to say the partners of the firm sniffed him out, and he was canned roughly a week later.
Another year, because of the bars along Cambridge Street near the office, I tried to go the long way home, taking a Route 69 Bus to Harvard Square to catch the metro there.  It looked like it was going to be okay...until we were just a couple of blocks away from the square.  There the bus was T-boned, at very low speed.  Couldn't confirm if the driver was drunk, but I suspect she was, and one of the passengers wanted to beat the tar out of the driver.
Between that, and hearing of pub crawls (where people visit multiple bars, sometimes called "holes", having one drink at each), and the fact that I was just plain scared to be anywhere today, I shouldn't have been shocked to see my overactive dream life sting me again.  But this time, it really did outself.  I don't want to go into details, but it involved an 18-hole pub crawl, done match play style, with the fastest to finish their drink getting credit for winning that "hole", not unlike golf.
This really bothered me for a couple of reasons.  The obvious one is that I don't drink.  But not so obvious is that I'm starting to feel more pressure to find a better job than I currently have, for multiple reasons (including the pharmacy overdrawing its bank account because of a $10K misread on the accountant's part last week).  But I'm afraid to go out there with the AS in paralegal studies I've got because my brother has horror stories about colleagues of his getting drunk as a skunk, and often...and slinging insults as a result that anywhere else would result in a summary filing.
Generally the last week has been better overall, but these nightmares...(sigh)

I have noticed this repeating pattern in you.
You are so bothered by hearing about people getting drunk.
Now I rarely drink to excess, maybe 3 or 4 times in my adult life (about once a decade). I don\'t suffer fools or drunks gladly -- they annoy the crap out of me.
But it almost seems as tho this is a \"phobia\" for you??????????
I wonder why? Do you have alcoholism in your family??
It seems an odd thing to constantly worry about.
Especially if it is just other people\'s stories and you are not personally affected

Although the bus accident I can see why that would be a BAD memory.
