There's scared, and then there's me...

As I'm loading up some CDs to my iPod this morning I can't help but think about some of the bad dreams I've had the last two nights about my dad leaving his hardware store job this week.
He plans on slowing down; perhaps taking a part-time job that's less labor intensive (he's not optimistic about that), and is showing signs of following through on that.  But that doesn't seem to be stopping the nightmares:
* The other night, I had a dream that not working as hard wouldn't sit well with him and that he'd take another labor-intensive job anyway.  That was good for taking three hours of sleep away in the middle of the night.
* Last night I was thinking simply about the fact that I'm seeing signs that maybe he;s looking forward to this a little bit too much.  He wants to do things that usually are just mother's business, like food shopping and gardening.  I'm okay with the gardening because we don't have that much luck on anything that isn't herbs usually, but everything else scares me because he's been on an experimental kick lately.  I just have a really bad feeling that things are going to get crazy, and lately it's been hard enough just to focus when it's been quiet.
Experience has taught me that situations like this usually don't turn out okay, so I'm expecting the worst.  It's looking like the iPod is going to have to be on call quite often this week, because what it will take to otherwise make the jitters go away is somewhere in parts unknown.

Like I said before, just give him some time, and see how things unfold. Not everything has to turn out bad, maybe he will end up having the time of his life not working anymore and he wont want to go get another hard job. Just be there to support him and give him advice, maybe even let him know you don;t want him working so hard anymore.
