therapy

I seriously love my therapist.  I think we could actually hang out and be friends. but anyway, she is so helpful - each time I go there I leave with at least one nugget of insight or one action I can take to change my life or my attitude.  And a few of them have been spot on!  I wish I would have found her years ago.  I only have one more free session through my work EAP but I found out my co-pay is only going to be $25 so I think I can still afford to go if I need to after the free sessions end.  I am pulling myself up again after the last little blow.  My main goal righ tnow is to live in the "present" - to stop ruminating on the past and to stop dwelling on the future and how awful it might be.  It's liberating! I do tend to think, "Oh poor me - I am getting older and older and I will never have a partner, and this whole weekend will be terrible and on and one...." I'm also taking a break from online dating, not because I think it's so terrible, but because I want to try to meet someone who is not a complete stranger - maybe through connections - I know it's unlikely at this age, but we will see.

For a $25 co=pay I would stay in therapy for the rest of my life!

Yeah, it's great to have someone be your captive audience for an hour! And give advice on top of just listening. :)

Hi there, you are sounding very grounded and hopeful. You are making progress with your therapist, which is good.

I have a friend who is almost 61, and is online dating. It is possible to date until we are dead. Seriously! And we can always partner with someone. It's just a matter of if you want to.

Even if you're 90, you'll find that there will always be divorcees or people that have lost their partners to illness, etc.

I love my counselor too. I've been seeing her for 5.5 years, six the first six months were marriage counseling then I stayed with her after he ran away. My co-pay is $25, so I still go every three weeks-it is wonderful
You and I are in similar places right now
