The way I see it

In response to all the flaming hatred and arrogance being flung around in the media, I decided to express my own feelings.

I am a registered republican and consider myself to be conservative. What I mean by that is I do not like change just for the sake of change. I can accept change if I see that the advantages of change outweigh the risks of change, albeit I may be somewhat slow to recognize said advantages. I am thoughtful and try to plan for the long haul. If you tell me that you are liberal, I will assume that you are dynamic, creative, full of ideas and somewhat impatient to accomplish them. You probably see problems with the way things are and feel things can be better, but you tend to be a bit short-sighted. If everyone were like me, our culture would probably become stagnant and dull. If everyone were like you, our culture could become dangerously chaotic. As a conservative, I need liberal voices to challenge the status quo and provide the impetus for improvement. As a liberal, you need the anchor and stability provided by conservative thoughtfulness. I think conservatives and liberals working together, even if fractious, is the force that has made our country the envy of the world.
