The Tinker's Den

I've taken to calling the big barn, "The Tinker's Den." This is the spot where the potentials of this investment property feel the most possible to my wandering senses. Dare I believe in those potentials? Is having one of the primary stockholders in the house starting his work day here on site a promising portent? At least one of the muckety mucks has a more vested interest than dollar signs. The other stockholders could still come barreling up the driveway waving their investment rights any time, but another vested stockholder has a better chance of out-papering them than a lowly wander. I've been backspacing over "Wanderer" for a goodly while. Officially, I am the resident stockholder's "Housewife," but my wandering urges and conditioning are far stronger than my housekeeping urges. Mere "Empty Nest" housekeeping hasnae been enough to use all my energies for around a couple of decades now. Whatever stereotypes family members, etc., view me through, my actual days arenae limited to their stereotyped assumptions. Nope, I amnae going to correct you if you assume my daily activities differently than I actuall live them. Arguing with a fool only proves there are two fools. On the investment property end, yeah, I have spousal rights, buttttttaaaaaa. . . I also have the right to wander away from those rights and disregard the muck the muckety mucks are raking altogether while I pursue more interesting projects. Have fun with that, my rightey rights. I'll write when I feel like it.

The tug to let "The Job Site" segue into "Home" is pretty intense, despite the fact that "Home" remains a vague concept to me. Maybe it could be more accurate to, "take a long term interest in the projects here."

Sorting. . . Letting God lead the dance.

For now, think I'll wander a spell beneath the clear skies to see what changes were triggered by yesterday's rain. Between my worry over the GKs and the rainy day sit-in, my gut knots are painful enough to warrant painkillers. Walking is among the best remedies I have found for loosening those gut knots.

Hugs & support, Arfie. My domestic side is still in development as daily household maintenance was always at the bottom of my lists for most of my life. And this entry definitely resonates on certain levels with me. Part of me still wants the freedom of coming and going as I please, not being tied to one place. And walking really works wonders for my GI flare ups. Also Middle Eastern dance has helped when my gut is over complaining.

Hugs!

I like the idea of making an income property. Could it be a secretly excited side to create another home? It sounds like it would be kind of fun? I also think it's a wise idea. Collecting rent and using extra space for maximum profit I think is smart too. I hear you worrying back and forth about it. I hope the walk after the rain was nice. Here it's just the walk after the heat.

So is it house flipping you are doing or what? I'm still confused about what it is exactly you are doing here and what is an investment property?

Not sure what you mean by "house flipping," but I am a nomadic soul, born and raised. Staying in one place feels downright unnatural to me. Hometown, Planet Earth. The world really is my oyster.

At it's most fundamental, an investment property is *just* a safe place to put your money. You can steal my wallet allot faster than you can steal acreage. In 1965, my husband's parents paid less for this 140 acre dairy farm than they paid for their last cowboy cadillac (luxury pickup) in 2015. They never lived or loved here. It was *just* money which would be difficult to steal and would rise in value without much demand on their personal lives. Mark's income (rental) property is another example of investment property.

My job here at this particular job site has been surveying where to go with it since the FIL died and the property passed to his sons. One of those sons is my husband and I mostly believe my "job" here is just his way to keep me in the state. It's sorta kinda working, but my nomadic nature still tugs me to let the newbies have the Boom State (Texas) while I graze less chaotic pastures.

I've worked for property management firms and listened to entirely too many landlord bashing sessions to be much interested in being a mean, evil landlord, myself. I hate cleaning/fixing up after rude pigs.

Arfie, I would actually smother you in triple hugs if you could teach that mantra about the fools to the rest of the world! Geesh do they need it

The campaign to teach that parable to the world started with Buddah around the time of Christ. The lesson is still there if any of the fools I don't want to argue with care to do their homework, but . . . Trying to teach a fool might be even more foolish than arguing with them.

Oh I see now. I didn't understand before the property had been in your family for a long time. I thought you meant you had purchased it recently and fixing it up to resell. That's house flipping.

Hmmm yeah when you put it tgat way, the clarity of the truth just jumps out at ya, but an evergreen dreamer can dream ~

I believe my dreams are more important than my realities, but I try to wait until I'm asleep before I test the physics of flying off the windmill. THAT was an awesome dream.

Still. . . The first step toward a better future is dreaming it can be done. I try to let the dream motivate while I let reality dictate.

Not exactly sure what your project is but it interests me nevertheless because your prose style is interesting to read. And I understand enough to see that you are very capable of prying your mind off of demanding and tedious topics and allowing it to roam free, which is a marvelous way of refreshing yourself.

I walk daily to let off steam and burn away some of those bipolar tendencies - a purification of sorts - but it’s terribly boring for me and I'm afraid that I am jaded enough that, even if I were in some beautiful surroundings like a trail in the woods, I would still be bored to death. Maybe it's because I'm old now and I've been doing it for so, so long. I do use my audiobook and listen to the mystery thrillers I love so much while walking but it still feels about the same as going to the dentist when I get up to do it.

Bored walking? I find my senses shocked by the very thought, but then. . . No wonder I'm such a loner. . .

How 'bout if you supplement those mystery thrillers with some nature books? I love identifying birds, insects, herbs, trees, etc., while I walk and watching for the suspense dramas of the interactions between all those competing life forms. We humans flatter ourselves when we call ourselves diverse.

I amnae certain what my project here is, either, or if there even is a sustainable project to be had here. I've been sorting the yaddahs of those blahs right here in my journal, if you are interested enough to read it. ^It^ is not simple enough for a simple summary.
