The stress of my sister's wedding is showing...

I'm sorry I haven't been here for the last couple of nights.  Basically, I felt my final paper for sociology class was a piece of (cuckoo) and I practically rewrote the whole thing.  When I presented my second draft today the professor liked it enough to ask if I wanted to lock it in, so I did so I could have time to be ready for Thursday's final lecture.  I'm pretty sure I've done enough.
But I have to admit: Pandora Internet Radio has been my best friend the last couple of nights.  The strain over my sister's wedding in a week and a half is starting to rear its ugly head, and I've needed the background noise to keep going.  I much would have preferred to be here instead but I knew what that would have done in terms of where my priorities were.
The wedding is getting to me really badly because a lot of the setup for it is going to be here...at my house.  That means from where I'm seeing it, there's going to be a lot of confusion and chaos, because my sister -- she's the one getting married -- is going to have some of her friends helping out, and they're as energetic as she is.
I really don't think it's helping that this wedding is late in the day, comparatively speaking -- 5pm -- so on the day of the wedding I'm going to have to put up with what's sure to be a full-blown stress episode over being in a crowd, half of whom I don't have a clue about, and an atmosphere that while less imposing than my brother's wedding still sits well outside my comfort zone; I'd much rather choose my company.  I'll be on my second summer course and will have material to work on by then, but I'm already getting the feeling that it won't be enough...UGH!  I can feel this driving me crazy already!

Okay I admit this is something I have no background with, I love being around people (phobia-psycho crap notwithstanding lol). But is there anything you can do to make it less stressful? Woudl it help to get involved in the wedding prep stuff? Or go the other way, just remind yourself that you have a safe little retreat if things get too crazy? Sorry I\'m not better about this stuff, but I hope you get through it okay :)

Summer, admittedly, part of the problem with me is that with situations like this, especially ones that I haven\'t handled well before, the reaction is to panic first and ask questions later. It\'s a bad habit but Idk what I\'m going to do to stop it.

I wish I could help with the wedding prep but other than helping store some of the stuff involved I\'ve been told to stay out of that; weddings are a girl thing so I can understand that. In fact, it\'s been suggested to me that I might actually want to hide for most of the 48 hours prior to the wedding instead. And that in particular scares me because hiding is something that I\'ve done a little bit too well, and that\'s why I worry that my new course material won\'t be enough because the risk of things going off on a tangent has now been implied and I\'m getting signals that those odds are pretty severe in favor of that happening. I guess it\'s a good thing the new Meebo Bar has touched down at DS because it looks like I\'m gonna need it. :(
