The Power of Friendship
Dear Fred:
Yesterday I wrote to you about living life "on the surface". Everything that I wrote yesterday I still feel is true. However, I wanted you to know that there is one wonderful thing throughout all of the sadness, loneliness and emptiness inside. That one thing that is a true blessing and comfort is FRIENDSHIP.
For the past while I could not tell if I felt sick because I was more depressed than normal or if I felt more depression because I actually was not well. Yesterday, after I wrote you I received my answer.
The answer came in the form of two different phone calls from two wonderful women I have met on DS. Both ladies called because they felt like they should contact me. We had wonderful conversations and great visits with both of them. At the end of these phone calls I no longer felt so terribly alone. In fact it felt so good to know there were friends out there that really cared.
Today I still feel sick but NOT depressed. Although I still feel totally worn out (even after 12 hours of sleep) and my tummy still does a "rock & roll" every time I move, I emotionally feel so much better. Thanks to two friend who called and thanks to the power of friendship I am actually able to relax without crying and know that what I am feeling is truly just a bug.
The Grief Monster and his brother, Depression, were swept out of my home and it feels so much better. My heartfelt thanks go to the friends who called me and to the great power of friendship.
Thank you for a better day!
