the power of a baby :)

I was sitting here at my father's house melding into the party going on around me, generally feeling old for the newly noticed bald patch on the back of my head. Since my last "break" I have had a very difficult time with socializing and I have been avoiding it because it taxes me, so goes the path of least resistance.  I am with my family now - a "blended" extended family but it's a good family nonetheless. I am missing some who aren't here and I was momentarily feeling so weak, nearly like I wanted to end it. I just was so aware of the emptiness of my world as I don't seem to bring much to this place, to this family or myself or would ever, so it seemed. Really bleak feelings while amongst the crowd.
I wasn't expecting it but my step-uncle Dennis brought over his new grandchild "Nico" who was so alert and happy I couldn't help but smile and become lighthearted.I held him and it
is amazing the power a baby can bring into your life, immediately even!  This child lifted my spirits with hope and just happiness. I feel my head lifted out of the sand a bit and remembering myself what I have going on in my life I will redouble my efforts and get to the project when the party is over. 
I hope you all are having a good Memorial Day. Just remember as dark and as weak as you may feel at times, there is always a little light, in this case a little baby, who can pull you out of a funk. Peace, Mark
