I’ve learned and concluded today that very often I have looked at the nuns and just thought “ok icons” -
icons of impeccable knowledge and behavior...
But I’m realizing it's not the case. They are people just like the rest of us. The nun I’m being trained by
Is a REALLY bad communicator- and has a caustic delivery of dissaproval at times that isn't funny that isn't justified or
judicious - but I’m recognizing to take that in stride. We each come here for different reasons perhaps as a try to find some peace after a difficult time or life. They may take up the role of nun but it doesn’t mean they don’t have foibles as the rest of us. There's room for that humanity - it's just something I have had to learn. It’s a place here for cautious respect and regard but we also bring our individual. I’m learning to take that in stride and consideration.

Your post, for some reason, reminds me of a really eccentric philosophy professor I had one semester in college. We were doing a whole semester of logic problems and the whole usage of the word Pious in logic arguments stayed with me. I believe it was Plato talking about Socrates, and those classes made my head explode to the point where I chose a simple personal practice of Practicing Kindness instead of worrying about where piety comes from.
I was never around Catholic school but know many who were, including my ex husband. When married, I loved buying baked goods from the sweet french nuns at a farmers market who are at an abbey providing soup kitchens. He always steered clear of the nuns for whatever reasons he had, but I always liked them and was drawn to them. Kind of like the nuns on the show Call the Midwife.

i don't have much exposure to eastern othodox, but the roman catholic clergy i have worked with spoke of a tendency among their religious leaders is to assign people to jobs where they most need development. nun of my business, but maybe you should be viewing your socially awkward trainer as your student in social skills. everybody gets to learn something my own favorite teacher/student relationships
