The Music is Back
My husband died March 31, 2010. It's also the day the music died for me. He was a great music fan, listening for hours. But after he died, I just couldn't listen anymore. I've had months of news radio. Last week I decided to do something about it. I went on a music diet.
Everyday for two weeks, I listened to a little music. Sometimes only one song. Sometimes two. And then I'd feel so low, I couldn't listen anymore. He wasn't here to enjoy it with me, so what was the point. Back to news radio.
But yesterday, I made a turning point and listened to my favorite artist for two hours. Today, I've listened for 4 hours so my music is definetly back.
Time is short and music should be a part of it. Today, I read that one of the artist I was listening to had passed away. She was a favorite, going back to my teen years, back to the day when I would scan the dial, looking for her latest album. I still do. I did so today, but alas, her last album has been recorded.

Good for you on reaching such a milestone in your journey. It gives me hope. I\'ll be glad when I can come to a day when I can reach a milestone like that.
Hugs,
Jean
I was just the opposite...I could NOT turn the music off because it was one way of staying connected to Snake...music was such a part and parcel of who he was...I shed buckets of tears because so many songs made me think of him, but it was far worse for me to be without the music...but I couldn\'t watch any of the dvd\'s in his collection until just recently...I guess that just goes to prove that our grief is uniquely ours.

I sing for fun and therapy but after Rudy died it took a long time to find my voice again. Music can be noise at times but there are songs that touch the heart. I am glad you found your joy in music again.
Congratulations for another milestone in your life by listening to music again. Music soothes the savage so or so the expression goes. I love music as part of my life. It has helped me thru many mainful moments in my life. It helps me cry when I knew to as well. Music is good for our souls. All the best for you in a new stepping stone of your life without your husband in it. From Diane B.
Still waiting to be able to turn the radio back on - but you gave me hope, Truhal. ~ Denni
Truhal,
I know what you mean..I could not bear to listen to any of my husband\'s favorites but there came a turning point when I actually listened to the Righteous Brothers singing & smiled remembering how my husband used to sing their songs to me.
Peace to you,
Cynthia
