The moment
I feel some in my family don't understand what I am going thru..their grief is not like mine..They didn't spend everyday with my husband like I did for almost 40 yrs..My life has changed dramatically.. I had to sign papers to take him off life support..He had pneumonia, ecoli, septis and other infectious I can't name..He battled cancer for almost two years..He was doing better and out of the blue he got pneumonia..After being admitted to the hospital things kept going from bad to worse..Watching him suffer, getting bed sores and they said he could be sent somewhere with a feeding tube and it would just be putting off the inevitable.. I knew he would not want that..I can't stand reliving that in my mind. They gave him a shot and he was gone..I felt like his life ended like a trip to the vet with a beloved pet...I can't watch television where there are scenes of people dying because it triggers that memory..My faith is what helps me, but my husbands absence hurts.

I went through a similar experience with my wife of 43 years. I understand and share your pain.
