The Long Hallway
In addition to my regular job as an Administrative Assistant for a condominium, I work for one of the families in the HOA. I take care of (maintain) their condo while they are away for the summer. This is really their winter home.
Since checking on things usually only takes 15 mintues, I usually go on my lunch break. Things felt a little different today. Not only is this the first time that I've had to start so early on in the season, but I got a weird feeling as I walked down the hallway. As I looked down the hallway toward where I was headed, it seemed the hallway kept getting longer and longer.
I almost turned back to go back down to the lobby. I felt anxious, but not like I was in a rush or something. I don't know what came over me, but I continued on walking. Knowing that I had my cell in my pocket--this was the first time I actually intentionally took it with me--calmed me down enough to actually get to the apartment.
