The ECC And Being Unconditionally Accepted
Dear Kitty,
I really ought to be in bed. You know that there is no point in being awake anymore when you're watching 'Coast' and finding it interesting.
The truth is, Kitty, that I'm far too excited to sleep! My new boyfriend - Christopher - is coming to stay tomorrow. Basically, I was on the ECC last week, and I don't think I've ever had so much fun in my life. There were people EVERYWHERE who were just like me! It was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. People who hum constantly, people who love Shostakovich, people who genuinely get into rehearsals, and do music because they LOVE it, and not because they have to. I'd thought for so long that there was nobody else like me, and to suddenly find my self surrounded by them was unbelievably overwhelming. It also turns out that one of the people on it knows Steph! She's called Rhiannon, and goes on Pro Corda, and I knew that I knew someone who goes on Pro Corda, and didn't realise for ages! It was very strange.
There were so many wonderful people there that I couldn't possibly list all of them. The best thing that I discovered is that, rather than people telling you to shut up when you sing, they HARMONISE! I didn't think I'd ever meet anyone else who does that. The same goes for harmonising when you sing 'Happy Birthday'.
I miss them all. I'd never felt so at home in my life. Nobody cares about how you dress or what you do in your free time or how old or immature you are - you just all join in and get along! I've had my eyes opened - there IS life outside of Oundle, and I can't wait to get out there and experience it properly.
Yours,
Francesca
P.S. I call him Christopher in case people I know confuse him with Chris.
P.P.S. We sang LOTS of Flanders and Swann, and I met someone who, after discoveing that I was writing a sitcom called 'Something Old, Something New', decided that we should write a sketch show called 'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Shit'. He was awesome, and the best accent I've ever heard in my life. Also I got some brilliant quotes down.
P.P.P.S. Also I don't think that there is anywhere else in the road where I could canter around the courtyard with five boys to the strains of 'William Tell'. Monty Pytin played a big part on this course. As did Pingu.
