the early morning
I am awake now, and the place is silent..
And it's nice. Yet the empty space feels 'forbidden'
I turn on the radio, I take a shower and get dressed
I am ready for today. I am ready to take care of myself today.
I walk to the bakery to buy coffee. The cool air and sweet
smell of rotting wet leaves fill my sense of smell
and my sneakers flopping sound on the pavement.
It's a good morning and it will be a good day.

It's 14 degrees here right now and you mentioning that you are walking in flip flops is just downright mean! :)
I just read that again and you said sneakers. Ah, well, we are wearing boots and goose down coats.
