The currency
This may be really evident but I've been thinking about it the past couple of days.
I noticed when I was first in Scotland, one of the couples was from Los Angeles, and as we were introduced they were very on edge being sure to be 'in the know' and doing all things fashionably correct. Similarly I have found that the monastery is no less of a place to find people on edge focused very much on 'the rules' of the fashion here as their way of relating. It's a different currency but a boundary no less for each situation in a similar kind of enthusiasm. It's just interesting to think about to me. It's a different manifestation of human passions. I think in both arenas it's important to keep a sense of humanity rather than just the proposed inclusion that each set of rules provides.
Both engender a different habit but
deal with the same kind of energies.

I guess you could expand this to sociological terms too, like overall what different societies focus their passions on emphasize generally speaking..the French, the Greeks, the Americans and so on…..
Yesterday I also had a kind of revelation:
I felt Christ with me while serving this morning. At first I was grappling with my weak and inconsistent mind, and it felt unavoidable. I thought ‘why am I the one who has to deal with this kind of thing?’ Suddenly I remembered the saying from Christ ‘to pick up your cross and walk with me.’ The acceptance was a saving and quelling grace and realization. No longer was I just idiosyncratic but I was both myself and with Christ and I felt his presence come over my body and help me serve liturgy..:
My friend a priest commented:
Keep the Cross at the Center of your being my friend and Maximazing yiur potential is the best way to thank God for the gifts He freel gave you in the first place.
I was in service today and very much felt the fear of having to be strong which seemed elusive but then the great weakness of how I was really feeling was rearing its head. I started to wonder if others have to deal with their weakness and indeed it must be. It harkened back to the comment to the priest. We all have to struggle with our weakness and also walk with Christ. We are idiosyncratic and yet on a same playing field.. I know today my strength is escaping me.
Just reframing my perspective that I can see the 2 sides of the issue, that I struggle but I am also of the world and not separate though my struggles make me feel that way at times
