The Best Laid Plans....
So today I had all these grand plans to wake up early and go jogging. Well, I slept in late because last night I was kept awake with images from the movie, and then I was having stomach problems from the food I ate yesterday. I'm just glad I got to work. I didn't get my jogging in, despite having planned on it. There's always tomorrow, though, and if not I'm going to go for my long walk on Friday. I'm going to try and do at least 2.5 miles, if not the whole 5k. It just seems easier for me to do 2.5 miles than the whole 5k, even though it's barely over a half a mile difference. You would think once I'm out there walking that it wouldn't make a big difference to me, but it does. I just get so tired trying to do the 5k, and when I do the 2.5 miles I don't sit as much. I know it's a mental block that I need to get over, but I don't know how to do it besides getting out there and walking more. I want to eventually run a marathon, so I need to get out there and get walking.
I talk about doing a marathon, but that's my super long term goal. I first need to get a 5k under 60 minutes. I like setting long term goals... it gives me something to work towards. I have to keep that in mind when I start walking again, whether it's tomorrow or Friday. I have to get out of the house this weekend... I stayed in last weekend which was nice, but I need to get out there and do something every day. I weighed myself today, and I gained a little, but that was to be expected with all the food and salt I ate yesterday, and all the water I drank to make up for it. I will probably be bloated for a couple days, and then I should go down back to where I want to be.
I was invited to the work Thanksgiving celebration today... I will go, and I will try my best to eat well. I know that there is going to be a lot of food, and that's good, but I don't know how good the choices are going to be. I know Thanksgiving is a time where people eat a lot of unhealthy foods, but I heard them going around today asking people what they were going to bring and they said they didn't have anyone bringing deserts. I think that's a good thing, since I love pumpkin pie and I think the less pie I eat the better. Mmm... now I'm thinking about pie. I miss pumpkin pie. I should find a way to make one for lower calories than regular ones so I can enjoy them as well. I've been doing pretty good at meeting my calories lately, so I think on Thanksgiving I should take it a bit easy.
Mood today has been good... It wasn't the great day I had yesterday, with the stomach problems and tiredness looming over me, but it was still a good day. I didn't drink any coffee because I didn't want it hurting my stomach. My stomach can be sensitive sometimes, since I have IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome) and so I shouldn't be drinking too much coffee in the first place. I just love the taste, and decaf doesn't give me the kick I need in the morning. Overall, though, I felt good... I had boring phone training to go to today, but that's okay too. Like my friend Andrea said, I should be excited that I can be bored by such things. I'm lucky enough to be able to work (or at least volunteer) and so that should make me thankful in the first place.
Food today was low on calories, actually... I wanted to make up for going over yesterday. I'm trying to avoid going too low, but I got in about 1,200 calories in today. I had soup for breakfast and lunch, and regular dinner. Well, I had soup and a spinach salad for breakfast and ramen for lunch. So most of my calories today were healthy at least. I'm low on my carbohydrates again, but I can make up for that later. I want to give my diet some variety, since I eat the same thing every night. I want something to shake up my metabolism a bit. When you eat the same thing every day, it gets your metabolism into a rut and it doesn't know what to do when you eat something different. Then you start losing weight, because it's trying to work harder to get over what you are doing differently. So yesterday I was high on calories and today I was low. Tomorrow I'm going to try and be in range.
Stress was high last night, with me thinking about the scary movie and me being unable to sleep. I have a feeling that the same thing is going to happen to me tonight if I'm not careful. I need to watch it, since I want to go into work tomorrow again since Friday is a holiday. I'm not going in early unless I wake up super early and feel like it, but I'm going to go in at my regular time. I need to get my sleep, since last night wasn't that good. But there's hope for tonight!
