the beating to my own drum
I'm home alone right now - well, with Blue - but I'm noticing
that after work this morning and still for a while after that - I had enthusiasm for my day
and the spirit and motivation to carry out my chores and tasks...
I mean I can keep up that enthusiasm and do it daily - but what I was noticing
was something very similar to what I experienced at work this morning....
At work, our MUZAC system was not working this morning... we, I, worked in silence
whereas my usual enthusiasm is bolstered by the groovy tunes....
I realized that as I worked in silence I wasn't as aware of the progress I was making as I usually am -
I was tempted to fall into a mood as I worked there - but I caught it - and kept on keeping on
with the work.... I realized the music added a kind of lubrication - a facility with getting on with the work...
So here I am now,... I am at home for the majority of the afternooon - finding myself questioning
as I usually do (hehe) - but questioning in a sense of what to take care of - how to take care of myself...
and very much pining for external input - though I do have to make an independent venture of things, of life! :)
Maybe I can see the similar kind of relationship here - of when I work in silence - (and silence wherever that may be - like right now, right here at home.)
I tempted to fall into a mood - and so maybe I can catch myself - by beating to my own drum - since I don't have muzac here - and my Ipod is broken/caput!
Anyways that beating of the own drum factor - is coming clear here - and so I am seeing it for what it is -
that alone factor - to keep on keeping on -....is beating your own drum another kind of stress? as stress comes
from outside like at work at the market? Maybe so - but it's clear enough to me now - how to handle it!!
peace and namaste! - Keep beating that drum! keep on keeping on!

The drum beat reminds me to breathe evenly, to stop, pause, breathe, and good to share!
thanks Mid!
Did you decide you could do without the music or do you need it to do your work and chores also?
I had no choice but to 'do without' music :) - but it's coming to me how much I appreciate it when driving in my car! hehe
I kinda like working in silence. It makes my own drummer so much easier to hear and harmonize to. People look at me weird, but you'd be surprised how often they add their own harmonies. For sure, keeping a beat makes my own work more productive.
I've never worked retail, but I suspect the constant Muzak would drive me up the wall. My all time favorite Saturday Night Live skit was where it came Paul Simon's time to pay up on the deal he made with the devil to achieve his fame and glory. The devil put him in an elevator to spend eternity listening to the Muzak versions of his own songs. I can relate.
:)
I often like the silence as well but I sure hear you how music can feed our souls..... TGIF!!... I hope that today the music will be back.... Big hug sweetie....xo
thanks Jan! TGIF!
