The aftermath

My granddaughter now has a stepmother.  I was able to get through the wedding with only one meltdown - during the first dance.  I could see Lisa and Harvey during their first dance.  Harvey needed to practice big time as he didn't know how to dance.  Lisa and Harve took dancing lessons which they loved.  So Harvey danced quite well with Beth.
Cevyn looked absolutely stunning as a bridesmaid. I am so proud of her.
But today I feel bloody awful.  I feel like I've had my guts wrenched out of me.  I just want to dig a hole and hibernate.  I am having trouble seeing anything positive.  Perhaps I will find green smiley for tomorrow.

Be gentle with yourself. It is understandable to have such a reaction. It forces you to see life moving on and a very important part of life is not here with us. It does not \'fit\' our ability to comprehend on an emotional level. Mothers are not suppose to have this happen to them. You were at the wedding and you were being supportive - that is amazing and shows what a caring person you are.

Whatever you happen to be feeling is alright and for good cause. Allow yourself permission to process the overwhelming pain and grief.

Rest well and feel the love around you of those who care.

Gentle ((hugs)) shared.

Oh, that must have so hard for you - so many memories and if onlys coming to mind, I\'m sure. But you made it with strength and compassion - and were the grandmother you always have been to your Cevyn. I think it\'s okay to hibernate some and lick those wounds or a while - and just take care of yourself. And then when you are ready, go get that green smiley!!!1

Marlene, it is understandable that you have some conflicted emotions. Lisa should be here with Cevyn, Harvey and YOU! Feel the feelings and know that over time it will hurt less. The edge of the pain will dimish. Love and hugs and so much understanding, Linda

I understand....as best I can....my dear friend. Let it be for you what it truly is...and for this moment in time, it just plain sucks. I\'m so sorry. I do remember you sharing the kindness and love that Beth is to Harvey and Cevyn, and what a gift that is. I know the event of the wedding was a major heartache for you, but I think the life of the marriage and the commitment by Beth to be a great stepmom will overcome that sadness for you. At least that\'s my prayer. I wish you peace and much love, Teri.

I\'m a step mother and although my \"bonus\" kids (I like that so much better than the word \"step) still have their mother, I would like to think that I add much to their lives as they do mine. I love them and cannot think of a life without them. I pray that is the relationship that Cevyn will have with her new \"bonus\" mother and in time, the positives of this new relationship will flourish and your heart can be full. Love to you and prayers for a gentle week. Robin

Marlene I\'m so sorry, it must be hard. No one could ever replace Lisa in Cevyn life, a mother has a special bond with a child. We all know this is true. Terry

Such a difficult weekend...it had to be bittersweet... I can\'t imagine how hard that would be to be there and I think that took courage and a big heart. Marlene, may you find peace in all of this difficulty and heart pain...Love, Donna
