That's What Mom's Do...

I am a mom...you are a mom...someway, somehow, we bring our children into our hearts...whether by birth, whether by adoption, however it is we bring our children into our hearts and souls.  And the first time we hold our child, we know that within us we will do whatever, whatever as a mom that we can do we will take care of this child, we will love this child, we will hold this child, we will sit up for hours with this child when it is sick, no matter what our child needs, as mothers we are there for them to fix everything that needs to be fixed for them...That's what Mom's Do.
When our child is learning to walk, they skin their knees, with tears running down their chubby little cheeks, we mom's are there for them, we bandage the boo boo, we kiss the boo boo, then we hug our child and tell them it is going to be okay cause mom fixed it....Within minutes those little tears are all dried up, with big smiles on their faces and a favorite cookie they take off running as if all is okay with the world...That's what Mom's Do.
Then our child takes a big step out into this big world, they are on their own so they think, cause back at home there still sits mom watching the clock, waiting to hear the door knob turn, listening for their laughter as they come in the door to share their day or their evenings bubbling over with excitement of who do what and where they had been...we sit with pure joy and listen...That's what Mom's Do.
Then after some time passes they start to develop into a world that we don't belong in, there is just no way that we could ever understand what they are going through, we sit and listen if they want to talk, we sit there and worry when they just slam the door, we sit there and say a prayer that they will be okay...That's what Mom's Do
Then one day something comes alone in our lives.  There's that phone call in the middle of the night, there was an accident, there was an operation, there was something that hurt our child, something that took our child from our protection.  No matter what happened that took our child from our lives, we sit, we worry, we pray, we cry, we ask why.....That's what Mom's do.
Then comes the day, the door doesn't  open, the laughter is gone, the heartaches begin, silence echo's though the house, the phone doesn't ring, there is no more telling us what their day was like, no more days that we can fix the scratch, no more days to wipe their tears away, no more days to hold them close and say "it's okay, you can go play".  Those day are gone from our sight, the blond flowing hair as they rush out to play, the stained chubby cheeks now with big grins as they have forgotten the booboo....For today, with all the love we have, we told them we loved them, we told them we miss them, we told them we wish you were still here with us,  we told them to enjoy their new journey, but our journey would be void until the day we see them again when God calls us home to be with Him too.
So we sit, we cry, we smile, we think, we feel sad, we feel alone, we had to say goodbye to them in this lifetime, but we will see them when our time comes....Until that day we wait......
THAT'S WHAT MOM'S DO!

Very good.....well said....I appreciate your journal and the heartfelt emotion that inspired it....we WILL see them again....I saw a 4 yr. old on the news who had an out of body experience in heaven. It was awesome to hear this child tell of things about heaven. One thing he said is that there are no old people in heaven. Everyone is youthful. WOW.....I wish I could remember his name. He was on FOX and Friends the morning show....maybe I can find it on the website. Love to you....dale, brandon\'s mom

I\'m glad you\'re writing and sharing with us where your mind is at. So true, what you wrote. My son was already a father, himself, but still a child to me. You know I never even saw his funeral, his burying place. It\'s all so abstract, and raising him was so difficult and challenging, it changed me forever, having that son and now that he\'s gone, I think about him so much more. The love just grows. We\'re hoping to get to Israel and see his grave, maybe in February, his yartzeit.

I know these memories. I know these night mares. Its been 5 yrs but i see them as yesterday. I try to think back and see the good the happy times but then I see him sick and I see cancer taking my son from me. I see my worst night mare coming true. I can\'t make these nightmares stop. At times I can\'t breath becuase they are so over powering. Your words are mine. I watched Justin die for 3 yrs and when he left..well you know. I have no other children I have no grandchildren. I didn\'t get to watch my baby grow up he was only 15..he was just way to young. why not me. I would have taken his place. He had more to live for then I do now. Justins mom
