That 70\'s Star
That 70's StarBy Anna Frost10-31-05 *Dedicated to Athena KorinDon't you know?Heard the latest news? That 70's star is coming our wayShe's such a starLook it's the red carpet coming downWow she has a huge pimpin' limoMust be worth 100 grandComing down the carpetShe is prancing and dancingAnd putting on a showLizzie come wave your hand at meI'm your number one fan you seeOh my goodness! She waved at meAnd she blew me a kissShe must have been watching me look at herI must not have been hard to missOh Wow!I can't believe my eyes! That 70's star has found out my disguise! She must have been watching and waiting for only meBecause you see she didn't take her eyes off of me. Editors note: I was manic when I wrote this.I wrote it in the unit when I missed my daughter's 5th halloween. She wore a bratz 70's costume that I paid a lot of money for only to get to see in pictures......This is a poem that I want to turn into a'small book.

I am most certainly not a poetry critic so I struggle for the words to give you advice. The concepts of your poems are good and very well suited for children. I dont know what a publisher would expect in the way of \"form\". There are many forms of poetry that you can convert these into. It is important that you identify the \"age\" of the children that you are trying to speak through in your poetry. You mention a daughter and if that is the direction you are seeking, I would try them out on her and see what she thinks. At young ages, children identify with simple forms of poetry that speak to them about the lessons of life and the things that they experience. Maybe talking to your daughter about the way she feels about different things in life will give you some insight in producing different poems. I think I like this one the best and you can definately add to it so any child can identify with it. It comes from your heart about a specific situation so I am sure other children will relate. Some areas to relate to would be: Fear, jealousy, pride, self esteem, love, strength, courage etc. There are several very good poets on this site that might be able to help you. I am not sure who they are but will let you know when I find some. Lostinlincoln has some experience in poetry and may be able to help some. At least she would have good input. I am more of a Haiku or rhyming style poet so I lead toward that. Haiku is fairly simple to produce using 5/7/5 syllable lines. They do not have to rhymn. I wish you luck with your endeavor as it is a good one to pursue. Let me know if you want something more specific from me. I hope this helps. Hugs
