taking an interest in the life outside

A family story that inspired me comes from my brother in law

who suffered a severe depression when he was in his 20s.

He was basically catatonic lying in bed all the day long...

One day a friend came to see him and urged him to step out

of his bedroom and take an active interest in the world again..

I just found that a really helpful story to think about.

I can get so frozen at times in my own mind.

For me it's worthy to not forget the world is out there.

Sending good vibes for a good weekend ahead!

My therapist has mentioned before that no one will care as much about my health as me and so it’s real important that I learn to take care of myself. So true. But the thought just came to me as well that no one has ‘it’ exactly as I do and it seems to be another thing to think about when establishing and developing a course for my own mental health management. Like Arfie said, be you. For my own conservatism and anxiety and sheepishness I might try to sit perfectly still and blend in, frozen like one of the furnishings.as my own knee jerk reaction. I realize I might think with a sense of iconography even when trying to decide what to get involved with.
Not to be hard on myself but in knowing this stuff there is the result is to be able to experience, learn and just be.

if someone does care more about my health than i do, i run for safety. there are clinical names for that condition and being the object of those conditions is mind fuckus maximus.

setting aside those psychotic extremes, it is physically impossible to feel the inside of somebody else's skin. the best the best of doctors can do is guide their patients in setting up their own treatment programs.

Learning to be comfortable in our own skin is a tough thing where mental health is concerned. Ive been working on confidence building for years and self assurance….because it is true that nobody can do that sort of stuff for us. Being validated by others isn’t so important anymore when you can have faith in yourself that you are making good judgments and learning to accept and keep growing stronger.

Sending hugs for a good weekend.
