Systems

I am thinking about the idea of systems in life. I was thinking about how we live in them and how we create them for ourselves too and how we intermingle with others and their systems that they make in their life. Before I left LA, I had a definite system or routine in my life. Trying to fit into it though it was small. Fitting into it is a phrase to consider in that I was exercising a lot of agency about creating one for myself as well as fitting into the larger one that was my family and community. That may be a little unfair to me, I suppose the system I had created was just very small and cozy. The way I like it.

So perhaps it's good to recognize that using the words 'fit in' was meaning a forcing type thing. Maybe again its just what I like or what I needed at the time but my mind was not ready to understand it or embrace it.

Now I've gone from one world in LA to another world and system here at the monastery. It's a system that doesn't allow much for any personal choice in the personal system I have for myself in my life. My personal world is nearly nonexistent and I'm kind of waking up to that and I'm going to start appreciating the choices I do have in life and the system I am creating for myself outside of the system I am living in for the group.

i had heard a couple of people say to me when considering another's tastes. They said ' I know how he/she likes it.' That really comes home to me now as I am seeing that predilection in the form of the systems we create each of us.
