Sunday Morning........
Sunday Morning can be such a sweet time......for peace, puttering......observing.
I was tidying up the dishes at the kitchen window when I saw a tiny little darling flitting to and fro. My flying visitor landed on the chair, then flew up to see the tiny red metal bird in his red metal cage gently swaying in the breeze. Then he turned towards the pottery birdhouse Sara gave me once upon a time......it's a pretty bluish green......perfect for a flying friend. The tiny bird hesitated.....ducked his head in, hesitated a few moments more, then when into this hanging condo......popped his little feathery head out......and then took off for another morning adventure.
What freedom he has........look at him go!
Watching him made me forget my aches and pains. It wasn't until I went to sit down that I again felt my limitations. Pain is a tough taskmaster......we live with it, we know it way too intimately......we have to find ways to be still, silent, content.......as I listen to the morning birdsong, I drift off with them....listening to their sweet melodies. We all need to find moments of bliss.......the sweetness of life.......strengthen the legacy of our lives by seeing the incredible, the unbelievable, the unforgettable along with our daily troubles.
It helps to protect the spirit, the beautiful soul we carry.....
Yesterday I went to the spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Lion's Club......they raised money to send kids in need to summer camp!
I got a slice of the most delicious coconut cake I've ever had, moist cake with the lightest whipped frosting, so yummy!
I asked two ladies (fellow OWLS members) for their contact info and set up a tentative week end evening (first weekend in May) to have Debra, Olivia and Barbara come over for dinner. I asked Debra if she will help me host this get together. Now we need to plan something fairly simple so as not to get overwhelmed.........having people over makes me very nervous. Time to break through that fear with action.
I'll be praying alot about this.......being a hermit these past years has caused me to turn inward more and more......but the light inside longs to shine, longs to extend my life by making friends. I've got to try.......even if we just do pizza, salad and ice cream treats on a stick it could be fun! Maybe I could get Bruce to move the front porch table onto the back patio, that way we could sit at the two bistro sized tables side by side and dine out???? Hmmmm......
Trying to grow a life while ill is a big challenge and needs much bravery and prayer.
Pray for me and know that I pray for your daily cares and concerns!
Hugs, Ruthie

Ruthie,
Yes, the daily pain we must endure definitely makes it hard for us to live the lives we were accustom to but it is so good to read that you are making progress in getting involved with others. Hope it will go well. Praying for you....Mike
I know it's hard to have people over. I hardly ever have anyone over for that reason, but it is good to have some social contact. It's good for the soul. Love you.
oh Ruthie, how much your journal made me smile. and say good for you friend!!!
I like your ideas about keeping the dinner and treats simple and moving the table (with help) to the back where you all could sit.
For you step out of your comfort zone and make contact in this world inspires and cheers me on to do the same.
its sunny and nice here too. ♥ you heaps my friend.♥
