Stubborn Love.. and another poem

We’ve tried to make it workDo the right thingGivin it our best, our allTo have and hold thick n thin sick n wellHolding on tryna make itHolding on never letting goHolding on, never budgingWe stay, yet we’re apartYou play, yet I’m awayYou pray, yet I’m doneWe can’t let go, lest we admit failureYou can’t let go, lest you admit losingIt’s hard to move on, when all we’ve known is each otherYour arms are where I want to beYour mind is not on par with meYour body calls mine its ownWhat do we have if not our touchWe have nothing without our touch

It’s a story about a stubborn love, shared by two who will not let go. Always holding on, knowing it will work. Ignoring the truth that it’s not ever worked. They grasp at straws, reach out to hold onto something that never was. They can’t let go, for the love they share is the strongest bond in the universe. No one can or ever could get close to breaking it. But what of this bond? What if it was only this bond alone that these two love-blinded souls have ever shared? What of the day-to-day? What of today’s intricacies, tomorrow’s plans? Their love can not help them there. They have nothing outside their love. She has woken up to this truth. It’s a hard truth that is revealed. She can not see this truth past the haze of their love. But she must cleanse her eyes, open her mind, and realize. This is not working. Today’s intricacies are tearing away. Tomorrow’s plans are fading away. Outside of their love, they have nothing. Outside of their love, they do not build each other up, do not strengthen one another. What kind of love is this? A stubborn love.
