Stood up by PDoc
I had a telemedicine appointment with my PDOC yesterday in 1545. I waited by the phone till 1900. This is chronically late for each appt, I have yet to wait less than an hour over my appt time to see him. I must say that this is very disrespectful to me as a patient. I am always waiting for him. There is no reason to treat your patient, your customer that is paying your bills, like this. There is such an asymmetrical power balance. I'm pissed.

That your doc is chronically late for your appointments is so incredibly rude and disrespectful! I would say something to him, if you haven't already. I'd be pissed, too!! If he treats all his patients this way, I'm surprised he still has a practice! Does he ever apologize???
I have a doctor's appointment by phone today, Thor, my first. Thanks for the heads up about the schedule potential. Sigh. In fact, I'm sitting by the phone and he's 20 minutes late. Thanks for the heads up that he might be super late so I wouldn't feel like I was the only one going through this.
I'd tell him, like in those exact words how you feel. I don't take crap from Pdocs.....but that's just me.
I have another meeting with the Doc on Friday night at 1830. Older, thanks. I will tell him that he stood me up and I am just about out of medication so that has to be figured out.
Just an FYI to keep in mind.....remember we "choose" our Dr.'s out of around 35,000 licensed Pdocs in the U.S.....we don't work for them....they work for us. In the last 20 years I've had Private Pdoc's who I've paid between $250 - $300/hr...they were worth it be cause they had multiple specialties that I needed. 1 was a Pdoc/Neurologist/Medication Management Specialist the other was a Pdoc/Medication Management Specialist. My current Pdoc is a Pdoc/Medication Mgmt. Specialist/Chronic Pain Specialist. So yeah, when they screwed up or wasted my time or tried to go in a "stupid" direction that was not where I knew my treatment needed to go (rarely happened) I spoke up. They worked for me, not the other way around. They didn't pay me to come sit in their office.
I realize its a hectic, funky, un-chartered time and having to do phone appt's and online appt's gets hectic....but don't let your Pdoc get away with not giving you the care, respect and time you require, deserve and pay for. They don't have the right to do that.
I literally have 5 Specialists that I'm having to communicate with each week via phone, face time and keep it all straight, and they have to keep it straight between them....because the hospital is not a safe place for me right now...and not one of them has missed an appt. or screwed anything up...they've just continued doing their job in a challenging time.
Just saying. Hope the appointment goes well...
