STILL CRAZY!!!

8-5-09:  Kenneth has been moved to a long term care facility.  He did, however, squeeze the doctors hand, on command, yesterday.  But, he is still in a coma.  I hope to see him tomorrow. My uncle passed away on the Saturday, August 1.  He was 81.  Yet another door closed!  I was very close to him, growing up. He was my mom's only sibling.  The news hit her pretty hard.  A friend of mine, from Olathe, KS, came to visit.  She just spent one night.  We had a really good visit, though.  She bought a sewing machine while she was here.   She saved $1000.00!!!  Really.  The original price was $3000.00!  I was stunned!  I think my Grandma's old black Singer is plenty good enough for me!!!  Besides, I do not like to sew!  Another friend (one of my Biddy Buddies) came for dinner on Saturday.  That was nice.  We were supposed to plan for the camping trip.  There really wasn't much planning done but we did have a good visit.  It was too cool to get in the pool....beautiful day for the first day of August. On Sunday Craig and I spent the afternoon washing our camper.  I love my camper!  It is not fancy but very "cute".  I wish we could use it more.  Today Craig vacuumed it, after work.  That was our deal....I would help him wash it and he would  vacuum.  He didn't quite finish, though.  At least he helped!   It has not been used for quite sometime...a little over a year.  Today I got in the pool.  It is HOT!  Crazy weather around here...... I had to fix the pump/filter and vacuum the pool.  After all that I just hung out in there for about an hour.  The water was perfect!  Tomorrow (today) I will visit Kenneth, go shopping for "stuff", and start loading the camper.  We will be leaving Friday morning and coming back Monday afternoon.  I am "iffy" about this trip. We really can't afford it and yet I feel like I need to spend a little money, we earn, on something other than bills.   If I don't do that I really will HATE working! About work.....I got "the letter" from the principal today.  It just brought reality home...I do have to go back to work!  My first meeting is on August 17.  It will probably do me good to have some structure.  On the other hand....I really like being a bum!  Seriously, I do feel blessed to have a job in this economic time.  And, I really love my job. Speaking of my job....one of my students (some of you know him as "the flip-flop boy") had his adult trike stolen!  He is autistic.  His mom called one of the local TV stations and they did a human interest story.   Of course, someone, immediately, offered to buy a new bike for him.  However, this morning, his bike appeared at a neighbors home.  It was damaged but repaired, for free, by a local bike shop.  Now, a new program has been created.  It is called Tristen's Trikes.  All the offers/donations are going to provide bicycles for special needs kids.  It is so cool how something very good came from something so very bad.  The stories are available, to view, on the KY3 news link, in Springfield, MO.  Life.....it is what it is!
