Step 5: Aparigraha
-Each step you take reveals a new horizon. You have taken the first step today. Now I challenge you to take another. -Dan Poynter
Step 5: Aparigraha: This is the fifth yama in the yoga tradition and is the virtue of non-grasping, of having faith in letting go.
This step is so meaningful for me right now! I have quit my job and am not able to stay in the city where I live. I am sad about this change because I will have to leave a place I love, people I love and other people who I am excited to know more. Right now in my mind I feel that there is no place that is better and I won't find happiness with other people in other places. I realize that that last statement is riddled with false assumptions, but I still have to overcome the energy behind that thought. I think this virtue of letting go of what I have and having FAITH that creating space for something new has the opportunity to lead to other happy moments.
I hope to keep this virtue lost to my heart:) I hope you too have faith in letting go, so you may create space for new experiences. Again, I do enjoy hearing any thoughts you have to share!

The experience of letting go at night, with my insomnia, as I am getting better, I am able to let go of my fear now that I will not sleep, because even if it takes me 2 or 3 hours to fall asleep, I always eventually do now. So this feeling of dread that haunted me every night has subsided. And with that, all the bad feelings and memories I can start to let go of. Thank you for posting this, I had not really thought about it in this way, and I realize how beautiful it is that I can start to let it go. It brings tears to my eyes, really. I am so grateful to have started the healing process.
