Starting Quarantine
No I don't have the stupid virus. My work has elected to do quarantine groups instead of laying people off. We are an essential business so we have to stay open. We closed our lobby today and now tomorrow my group is staying home for 2 weeks, then the next group will, and we will keep trading off until this passes.
I think it's a really dumb idea. We are having a meeting after work to discuss why they decided this and whether or not we will be paid. They have to pay us something, but I am curious if this is coming out of our bonuses or if it's half pay or what. If they don't pay us, we will just get jobs elsewhere and defeat the purpose of being quarantined in the first place.
My fiance manages an essential business so we will have his income, but if I could afford not to work, I would be a stay at home wife and have had kids by now. Yeah we have emergency money in savings but I was planning to use that for a wedding and honeymoon.
Anyway, if we do get paid then this time off will be great. I have so much shit to do in the garden and cleaning the house, etc. This will be a blast and I will stay very busy.

File for unemployment compensation benefits.
My daughter is in the same boat. She's alternating days working with her other co-workers, I don't think it's the best idea either, because it depending on what she'll earn working those few days it may affect her possible unemployment. I'm not crazy about that idea either. Here in NY, it seems like people are going out and about with their normal lives, but a lot are working at home. I don't know if you have that kind of job where you can work from home, if you do they may ask you to eventually.
No I can't work from home. I'm off for 2 weeks with pay but the meeting today boss said unlikely to get any bonuses this year :(
Isn't Trump sending you all money ? There will be more government response . Do you have a union ? I would contact them for advice.
No union, but yes I will eventually receive a month's pay from government. It's no big deal, I will be fine. I just don't like not working.
