Starting point
I've felt very confused for a while about where to get started to turn my life around. I've got too many self help books and my head has just felt overwhelmed.
I think I've managed to sustain a few good things for the last few months and have noticed a difference.
I eat very healthy good nutritious food now and I notice if I haven't.
I run every other night to help my stress levels and tone up.
I work hard to ensure I get enough sleep.
I don't drink alcohol except a glass of wine on Fridays
I go to my therapist once a week.
So, that's all good.
I also took control of my finances which were not good and persuaded the school to reduce the school fees I pay for my daughter...it will make a small difference but it's still a help.
I've now decide to work hard on my self esteem.
I've got a good book which involves lots of exercises.
The family dramas continue on a big scale but I'm not writing about them because I don't want any of it to take over anymore of my time. But there is aggression, shouting, hostility, drama.....and to be honest it still shakes me, scares me and damages me.
But today I am grateful for:
My lively happy snoring dog! Fast asleep next to me!
My daughters teenage excitement at going to a live concert to see a boy band!
My daughter getting full marks in her Latin test!
The wonderful sky, the clouds, rain, sun....all working together to take my breath away at the beauty
The small glimmer of hope that the future might get happier and nicer xxxx

I can related to feeling overwhelmed by having read so many self help books. I want to soak in all this new information because I\'m so eager for change but it can get to be a little bit of an overload at times.
There is progress though! You listed it all out:) I do the same thing! I list my progress along with what I\'m grateful for. When I feel overwhelmed with all that I am faced with, it helps me to see how far I\'ve already come.
The exercise, eating well and getting good sleep are definitely at the top of my list as stress management tools. I do that daily along with a glass of beer once a week and a visit to a therapist every other week:)
Family drama, yuck. That sucks the energy right out of a person. It seems like you are tackling it one step at a time though.
Congrats on your daughter\'s test.
I don\'t think moments get any better than what you described, a happy snoring dog and breath taking beauty outside.
Thanks Buttercup princess.....xxxx
my head wants to explode from all the information coming at me from various sources. I sure do understand that feeling of overwhelm.... especially in the self-improvement arena.
But it sounds like you are doing a lot of self-care, despite said overwhelming books. And you are managing all that and a chaotic family. Which I don\'t mind reading, if you have a need to share or vent about it. Can\'t scare me off any worse than my own family drama.
How\'s the niece? what\'s the deal? is she still with you?
You have come a long way in a short time. I hope you can take in all your accomplishments...
How exciting for your daughter -- doing so well on her test. And getting to see a boy band !! :-)
Keep that hope alive... that glimmer ... that\'s pure Gold, right there... (((HUGS)))
Thanks Amelah....yes niece still here....loads more drama has been going on.......I can\'t write about it because it drains me......my therapist is working on helping me to let my anger out and express it......so I expect you will here me \'venting\' very soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
thanks for clearing up the repeated posts ... I didn\'t want my head to explode that many times! LOL ;) Ah, drama. It just never ends, but it wears us down, for sure. Sending you healing thoughts and loving Hugs. And hoping you\'re still finding time For You! ((HUGS))
