start another day
woke up very early - then went back to bed - woke up again at 530am
and decided to go get a coffee at Starbucks. I didn't really want it so much
but it's a routine that I feel is so important to keep up. I need external structures
in place - I just feel that, that is important.
I came home and drank the coffee and have been playing with Blue.
He's been crying a lot - and does this, I think, when he is bored...
Trying to entertain him - but he is still crying. Now he's eating..
I'll get to him after this journal entry.
Anyways - my mental energy is working against me today - and I felt
an anguish about stuff but I feel it's important to not be alone with it
so I am writing here. Trying to remind myself struggles are for everyone.

Hope the Starbucks walk brought some positive reflection to start the day on a good note. What will you do today? Any projects or programs to watch?
I’m doing my weekend morning laundry ritual, having my coffee. Going to write a few letters/cards today. Watch a movie. May go forward a walk to Walgreens later. Here’s to relaxation Sunday today!
Thanks Sensitive!! A good morning for you too!! And a was good day!!
Sorry that ‘was’ somehow got in there..
Have you given Blue his trial picnic yet?
Be patient with the process.
I haven’t. He’s just by me right now and he’s such a scaredy-cat that just think it’s not such a good idea.
You are the one with your finger on the pulse, but neither of you are likely to lose ground if you carry him out in his pet carrier and find a comfy spot where he can enjoy his picnic in the safety of his carrier. A day or thirty of that just might help him grow his confidence enough to stick his nose out of the carrier, wearing his leash of course in case he startles and bolts.
With another salute to the diffs between canine and feline, ALL of my therapy dogs have started as rescue dogs, complete with abuse phobias. I cannot speak the depth of healing mojo I found in helping them overcome their phobias. Girl howdy, it was a lesson in being patient with the healing process. All at Godspeed.
But, repeat, you are the one with your finger on the pulse.
My Persilly up and disappeared on me. I haven't seen her in three weeks and search efforts have proven futile. I hate to admit it, but I think she was getting jealous of Donkey Odie. I've heard donkeys called, "The dogs of the equine world" and I believe it. He was neglected far more than he was abused before he came to me and he has been getting what little was left of her attention time in between foster care duties. I sometimes think poor Persilly lost more than the rest of us put together in the death of my son. When the kids became my responsibility, she went from being the center of my universe to yard dog. This farm makes a great yard, but not even the greatest of yards can compensate for the loss of the bond. She lost everything that matters to her.
Still. . . In the training of Donkey Odie, I am once more helping a rescue animal past a rough start in life and freshly reminded to be patient with the healing process. This week I have been training him not to bite by kissing his nose when he puckers for the bite. Donkey puckers are hilarious, as are his reactions to getting his pucker kissed. Yesterday I gave him a raspberry instead of a kiss. That reaction was even funnier.
LOL you are so funny Arfie! I am sorry Persilly bolted. I have tried to calm the fears of Blue as well.
I think he gets it - but at the same time he still is super frightened of almost any little noise.
Peace, Mark
Just take it one step at a time!
A little bit outside will do you both good!
thanks Mid!!
