Staffordshire University love me!!!
Okay so today was the day that I went for my first (and only) university interview in Staffordshire. I got up really early and I had all of my work ready in my portfolio so my mum came with me for support.
We ot to the train station real early so we could get there on time. So far, so good! Then we were on the last part of the journey between Crewe and Stoke and the train breaks down! It was only half an hour away from my interview so I had to call the university and tell them I was going to be late.
So we finally got there and I got taken to the design department where there were 9 other candidates waiting as well and they all had massive portfolios and mines only A3 so i was thinking fuck! They took us into this gorgeous design room! It was lit really brightly and there was Apple Macs in there and desks and sofas and students work in there and it was just the most perfect room that I would love to work in. So then we gave the staff our portfolios and had to sit down so they could take a look and get to know our styles and everythng. So then I had to wait there for an hour until I was called for my actual interview.
So then came down to it. This guy took me into this room (its wasnt that creepy I swear!) and it was time for me to sell myself to the university. The whole thing was really informal so it put my mind at rest completely. We talked a lot about my work and he was really impressed. I've applied to do a Graphic Design degree but because my work is very structured and has a stradgety to it, he suggested that I'd be good working for the advertising industry! So I asked him about changing to a degree in Advertising and Brand Management and he said it would be possible for me to do that. I also talked to him about how I want to work abroad during my second year and then I want to move and work abroad when I finish uni and he was so impressed that I knew what I want from my life so the interview itself went really really well :D
So now is a waiting game. I have to wait for them to make a decision on whether or not they will give me a conditional or unconditional offer, so fingers crossed I'll know by the end of the week. I shall keep posted and let you guys know what the university said. So all in all, a pretty good day :)
So happy right now its unreal!
Peace out guys :D xoxoxo
