splintered mind - but keep on keeping on

splintered mind but keep on keeping on

I know we each face hurdles for getting our work done and surviving. I'm thinking

about how we've all talked to each other about our challenges and have supported each other.

It seems so obvious a statement - but my mental buoyancy and stability eludes me again

and again - taking me to a square one type place. Thanks for understanding my friends.

This really is a safe place to bring my focus back to the interpersonal as opposed to the distorted

fragmented and resulting panicked mental state that sometimes comes about in my days - probably from discord, disappointment or  stress - but also

for the creative squirrel brain that I have that tends to take thoughts too far.

This morning I kept falling asleep during the services I was given the responsibility

of leading. Not the best thing to be doing. But then anyway - I got things done

and done pretty well - just a couple of hiccups that me and my partner behind the iconostasis

caught pretty quickly. So all in all a positive, good morning service. Then

I had a coffee and I was on my phone until meal time started - then we had the meal.

During and before the meal time I thought about how healthy I felt and I thought about potentially going back to work.

(The political times additionally make me worry that SSDI will go away.)

I thought about how those around me in my family might say things like that would encourage me to stay

the course with the monastery and that it has helped me so much. It indeed has - it's been spartan simple living

which has really helped me focus and heal mentally enough to cope with my life. A really healing way of life.

I've gained some wisdom too which I feel I can use to help others with their struggles as a confessor priest.

I also thought about my mental health how it can come and go - and how it seemed at the moment (this very morning)

I was doing pretty well -

and so I also thought about my comfort of place here at the monastery and with my friends and family -

that kind of coziness within which they might be encouraging me to stay made me realize that if I do go back to outside work - I will have to forge

my own path just as anyone else would - that we're all indepdendent - but also interdependant - and it would be myself that I would need to listen to -

and fight for myself regardless of the support or discouragement I might receive. This

helped me and yet it also took me to a place of mental extremes. My personality felt like it

split and fractured and I didn't know how to ground myself. So I looked at the nun across

the way - I KNOW SHE'S HAD A HORRIBLY TOUGH LIFE... I know she has taken medications

as well in the extreme. She's still here doing her thing - amazing - tough as nails and a survivor!!!

So I resolved to just keep on keeping on - with scattered fractured brain or not - I know

how to take care of myself and the work that needs to get done...I resolved to come

on here- and as I began to think of you guys -and start the process of organizing my thoughts

into an interpersonal way - I really calmed down and reclaimed my stability. I think that's a wonderful

thing I am realizing. The interpersonal can really be a wonderful curative - rather than feeling alone

with my illness/condition. It's restoring me to a constructive state of being.

It seems that god does not listen to those with mental health challenges. But if I think about it in a contextual way, I can see that my disease and my status as a child of god are maybe separate. Each time there is a birth there is a roll of the dice genetically but the emotional and spiritual reality that I am a child of god if but with an impediment seems evident. It’s all I seem to be able to talk about these days.. I got sooo tired today that I came to my room early.
I guess I just have to find him in the beautiful relationships that the struggle then uncovers

Oh sweet Mark, you must know that God Does Listen, and He wants US to do what we can to help ourselves...I try to tell myself this often, "I can do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me".

I also think that anyone who has Big mental health challenges, took me 3 years to come back from a manic episode to be able to go back to work and live independently.

The growth I see in you since you went to the Monastery has been Huge. You've become much more independent of your family advice, you've stepped out into the world and traveled,

You've always been a role model for me with your ability to structure your daily life, focus on what you need to do, get the 'it's' Done!!

I too feel concern for social security, I may be living on my pension only of 425. per month! But honestly I don't think SS would pass the house to be canceled out...I watched President Obama video...in my journal...and he made me feel better. The "Hands Off" rally all over the Nation made me feel better and I can see orange man crumbling along with his billionaires due to the Court System stepping up. Will it be a scary 4 years, yup, but I also think that there are too many laws and people in Society that will Make their representatives step up to the plate.

Just remember, maybe write down to keep close to you...I have "Apathy Is Not An Option" on my refrigerator to remind me to do something Each Day To Help Myself.,,,today all I did was get my fluids in and wash/put away dishes, and take care of Mia. Tomorrow will be a Big Day of going out shopping and making purchases for the house with John, then Thursday I'm going outside to do more weeding...is this an Accompished Of Purpose and Meaning....well, God Willing I'll have Friday to do more and be more.

Much Love Mark....just know that being tired/stressed can effect those train switching tracks in your mind...maybe an Epsom salt bath, and a good night sleep and request to go a bit slower til you get your balance back, and You Will <3

leaving room for each of my sibs-in-healing the dignity of sorting their own, this mentally ill person believes god both listens and answers it be the fissures and tissures of my mental illness that make it hard for ME to listen and act accordingly. insert therapy tools here. dear god, please open my heart so i may better follow your guidance.

i thought your participation at the monestary was your new vocation. participate in a vocation you love and you will never work a day in your life. what's money or fine possessions have to do with it. fine possessions are just more housework.
